Galant du Mesnil’s modern build, world-class genetics, athleticism, jumping scope, elegance, and classic looks truly elevate him to what the sport horse world recognizes as a "World-Class Sport Horse"—a combination of top genetics and exceptional performance potential.

PF's Galant du Mesnil (Registered Name: Galant du Mesnil)

2016 Selle Français Gelding (formerly a stallion)
Genetics: Cornet Obolensky / Clinton x Baloubet du Rouet x Jalisco B
Registration Number: 25000116341697K
Licensed for Breeding with the Oldenburg Verband – Frozen Semen Currently Available

PF's Galant du Mesnil (Registered Name: Galant du Mesnil) was selected, purchased, and imported by owner Ryan R. Pedigo of Ryan Pedigo Sport Horses in 2021 from a top European sport horse breeder, who had acquired Galant out of a Selle Français auction as a foal at his dam’s side. At the time of purchase, Galant was unlicensed for breeding and was just beginning his campaign in the 1.00–1.15 meter jumpers. Following his importation, Galant was successfully licensed for breeding. Galant du Mesnil’s modern type, world-class genetics, athleticism, jumping scope, elegance, and classic looks truly elevate him to what the jumping sport horse world recognizes as a "World-Class Sport Horse"—a product of superior bloodlines and talent.

From 2021 to 2022, Galant’s career focused on stallion services. In mid-2022, he began training and launched a highly successful competition campaign in the U.S., while continuing his fresh semen services and beginning the process of having semen frozen. As Galant’s performance career progressed in the U.S., we owe tremendous gratitude to the top professionals who helped shape his success:

  • Wendy Thompson, hunter/jumper rider, for her early training rides.

  • Lane Clarke, jumper rider, for giving Galant a solid foundation and successfully campaigning him to the 1.20-meter jumpers.

  • Nick Haness (rider) and Carleton Brooks (Balmoral Farms Inc.) who took over in late 2023 and advanced Galant’s training and show career, leading to countless wins and achievements.

In December 2023, Carleton Brooks purchased Galant as an investment horse. Galant was gelded and renamed Golden Road, making his debut as a gelding at the start of the 2024 Desert International Horse Park Winter Circuit. Golden Road had a standout season with numerous highlights, including:

  • Winner of the $100,000 WCHR West Coast Hunter Spectacular, concluding Week 10 of the 2024 DIHP Winter Circuit.

In mid-March 2024, following his Week 10 victory, Golden Road was sold to one of Tom Wright’s high-profile clients and moved east to continue his show career. Since then, Golden Road has successfully campaigned throughout:

  • The East Coast Summer Show Circuit

  • The Indoor Circuit

  • The WEF Winter Circuit

We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate Golden Road’s continued and growing list of accomplishments.

ABOUT Sire: Cornet Obolensky

Cornet Obolensky has ranked among the top sires in the world on the WBFSH Jumping Sire Rankings for many years. Few stallions have dominated both international competition and breeding to such an extraordinary degree. At present, 27 of his earliest offspring have reached the 1.60m level, showcasing his incredible ability to transmit elite sport horse traits. From the moment he entered the breeding world, breeders and riders alike were captivated by this charismatic grey. At the 2001 Westphalian stallion inspection, Cornet Obolensky—by Clinton out of a Heartbreaker mare—impressed with his athleticism and charm. He received a 9.24 for jumping and a perfect 10 for free jumping in his 30-day test. Under Marco Kutscher, Cornet Obolensky’s competitive career soared. The pair qualified for the Bundeschampionat finals and quickly became a dominant force on the international circuit. His first crop of sons produced some of the sport’s best:

  • Cristallo I (1.60m, Henrik von Eckermann)

  • Cornado NRW (1.60m, Marcus Ehning)

  • Conte Bellini (2013 World Cup Finals standout, Kristaps Neretieks)

  • Cornet d’Amour (Daniel Deusser), winner of the German Championship and fourth individually at the 2013 European Championships

  • Cornet’s Cristallo (Marco Kutscher)

  • Cocoshynsky (Emanuele Gaudiano)

Today, Cornet Obolensky has at least 32 offspring competing at the 1.60m level, with many more emerging. His influence on the global breeding scene remains unmatched, and he has held a place on the WBFSH rankings since 2013.

ABOUT Dam's Sire: Baloubet du Rouet

Few stallions have had the kind of dual impact in both sport and breeding that Baloubet du Rouet has. Under Rodrigo Pessoa, he was nearly unbeatable—earning individual Olympic gold in 2004 and winning three consecutive FEI World Cup Finals. Known for his scope, reflexes, and explosive energy, Baloubet set new standards and was ranked number one in the world for multiple years. Baloubet’s own breeding career has been just as dominant. For over a decade, he has sired successful 1.60m jumpers, including:

  • Chaman (Ludger Beerbaum)

  • Bubalu VDL (Jur Vrieling)

  • Palloubet d’Halong (Jessica Sprunger)

  • Sydney Une Prince (Roger-Yves Bost)

His sire, Galoubet A, is one of the great legends of sport horse breeding, producing elite stallions like Quick Star and Taloubet. Baloubet’s dam, Mesange du Rouet, was also a successful competitor and produced Unadore du Rouet (1.60m). His full sister, El Ira du Rouet, produced seven international-level horses, including two that reached 1.60m.

ABOUT Dam’s Grandsire: Jalisco B

Jalisco B was bought as a two-year-old by Henriette Van Riemsdijk, later the wife of French breeding expert Arnaud Evain. She had already worked with Jalisco’s sire, Almé, and made the decision to breed Jalisco only to mares with proven performance or breeding records. As a five-year-old, Jalisco placed 8th at the French Championships. The following year, he placed 8th in the Grand Finals and ranked 4th in prize money earned. According to Evain, “What Jalisco brought was super scope, a big stride, and heart. Behind his strong body, there was a lot of blood,” especially evident in sons like Quidam de Revel, Nankin, and Dollar du Murier. Under Xavier Leredde, Jalisco won the Grand Prix of Paris in 1983 and was listed for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, though an injury sidelined him. He later competed for Portugal under Manuel Malta da Costa at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. In 1982, Jalisco sired future stars:

  • Quidam de Revel – 4th at the Barcelona Olympics, became one of the most successful stallions of his time

  • Quito de Baussy – 1990 World Champion

By 1995, Jalisco topped the WBFSH Sire Rankings, with eight of his progeny competing at the highest levels. At the 1996 Olympics, he was represented by Rochet M, Surcouf de Revel, Vert et Rouge, and Revoulino. As noted by Bernard le Courtois in a 2006 survey of top stallions, Jalisco ranked among the very best with ten progeny represented internationally.

"One should consider that Jalisco has four half-brothers, sons of Almé, from a generation which distinguished itself at an equivalent level of competition: Joyau d’Or A, I Love You, Lord Gordon, and Galoubet. Among them, Jalisco was the most powerful and elastic, with a perfect maternal line. While less flashy in the ring than some of his siblings, history has shown him to be the best breeding stallion of the five."
