PF'S RIO

PF's Rio is a distinguished 2018 Bay Oldenburg Stallion whose world-class pedigree speaks volumes. A true replica of his sire, Rio Grande, Rio embodies the excellence that runs through his lineage.

With great anticipation, we welcomed Rio's first foal crop in 2022, and the results were nothing short of outstanding. Rio demonstrated his prowess as a sire by producing two remarkable bay colts and a bay filly. Each of these offspring immediately showcased exceptional athleticism, powerful movement, correctness, and striking good looks—traits undoubtedly inherited from Rio himself. It is evident that Rio Grande's legacy lives on through his grandchildren, as Rio's foals mirror the same qualities that have made this grandsire a renowned figure in the world of breeding.

Rio's sire, the late Grand Prix and Olympic Stallion, Rio Grande, has a proven and legendary resume that is highly regarded throughout the sport horse world. Rio Grande, the Elite Hanoverian Stallion by Raphael x Windhuk was known as the "performance sire extraordinaire" for his success in producing many generations of top sport horse offspring in North America.  Rio Grande has been called the “Performance Sire Extraordinaire” for his consistency in producing talented, correct and trainable horses for both jumper and hunter disciplines who have competed successfully through the ranks, including hunter derby competitors. Rio Grande excelled in the competition ring first as a dressage horse earning top marks as Champion at prestigious tournaments of champions as a four-year-old. Winning multiple international show jumper classes, captivating in his performance in many nations cups as part of the prestigious Team Canada and Canadian Olympic Team.  Rio Grande has produced some of the most prominent horses in sport and the list is a mile long.  He consistently produces big, beautiful, athletic and intelligent horses with great jumping technique, lovely movement and a calm demeanor. Some of his best known show jumping offspring include; daughter, Rio's Rhapsody, who won multiple Grand Prix competitions under rider Erynn Ballard - daughter, Catwalk, winner of two World Cup Qualifiers - son, Rio I, winner of multiple prestigious hunter derbies under rider Kristjan Good - grandson, Chicco, winner of multiple Grand Prix's in the US.  For his many successes, Rio Grande earned the title of USEF #1 Hunter Sire and top five placements in the USEF Hunter Sire rankings for several years in a row. Sadly, Rio Grande passed away in 2007.

 

PF Rio's dam, PF's Covergirl, also has an impressive lineage of world class pedigrees. Covergirl is a well established producer of top sport horses with outstanding scope and style. Her sire, Cabardino, son of Carpaccio, stands with his own great breeding legacy.  Cabardino successfully competed from the upper level show jumpers to the regular working hunters, capturing many great accomplishments; including being named a #1 USEF Hunter Sire. Cabardino produces offspring that are not only well known for their jumping talents but are also well versed in multiple disciplines. Cabardino is known to produce versatile athletes who quickly excel in any task put upon them, exhibiting great scope and style, often with a lot of chrome and occasionally paint coloring, standing as one of the top hunter sires in North America. PF's Covergirl has quite the producing record herself. Her son, PF's Rio, now an outstanding producing sire - Rio I, the successful hunter derby competitor - PF's DaVinci, an outstanding young hunter - PF Rio's Gemini, an outstanding jumper prospect, PF Rio's Cortez, an outstanding hunter prospect - PF Rio's Reya, an outstanding two year old filly - Divante PF, an outstanding 2022 colt. Covergirl's dam line includes top show jumper and international sire, Lavall I, whose breeding presence is of great importance and has been very influential in many top show jumping pedigrees, known as some of the most prominent sport horse bloodlines. 

 

Sire, Rio Grande's accolades include: Winner of his stallion performance test with Hanoverian Verband with a score of 135 points - Winner of several International Show Jumper classes  - qualified for 1996 Olympics - 2005 USEF #1 Hunter Sire and multiple years of ranking in the top five - USEF ranking - Sire of Catwalk, winner of two Show Jumping World Cup Qualifiers - Sire of WEF Hunter Champions Rio's Bravo, Rio's Bronco, Eye Remember Rio, Rio's Renoir, Rio's Due North & Rio's Echo. Rio Grande's great legacy lives on through his outstanding son, PF's Rio, who resides here at Ryan Pedigo Sport Horses in the US. At this time, Rio is standing privately within our breeding program.
